Town halls resist 'rich list' attack

Councils have defended the pay of senior managers after the TaxPayers’ Alliance (TPA) published its annual town hall 'rich list'.

The report claimed ‘many’ local authorities increased the amount they spent on senior management in 2015/16, but failed to acknowledge that average chief executive salaries were declining annually
