Wakefield chief requests early retirement

The chief executive of Wakefield Council, Merran McRae, is to step down after requesting early retirement.

Ms McRae, who joined the council in 2017, has been undergoing treatment for cancer and said it had been an 'incredibly difficult decision to make’.
