Watchdog calls for mandatory transfer scheme

A watchdog has joined calls for councils to be required to take in unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

Ofsted said the voluntary national transfer scheme, which is designed to ease pressure on authorities at the UK’s entry points, should be made mandatory.
