We need 10-year settlements, LGA chairman says

Local government should have 10-year financial settlements to be able to forward plan properly, the Local Government Association (LGA) chairman has suggested.

Speaking at the County Councils’ Network (CCN) conference in Guildford, amid growing fears over the future viability of business rates, Cllr James Jamieson, said: ‘I know it’s regressive, but that’s what’s on the table.

‘The opportunity is there and it’s right we have to seize it.
