We need a level playing field between councils and developers

The Government’s recent launch of its revised strategy to tackle the housing crisis was well reported in the media, as were councils’ frustrations in their lack of powers to help build more homes people deserve.

If councils are going to be made responsible for local housing delivery, the National Planning Policy Framework needs to give them the tools to ensure they can hold developers to account for the promises they make when seeking land allocation and permission.
