We need a national strategy to tackle knife crime

Following the tragic news of two fatal stabbings last weekend, the Government has proclaimed that knife crime is a national crisis. Home secretary Sajid Javid has vowed to call together police commissioners to tackle the issue head-on.

While there is no silver bullet, there is talk of knife ASBOs and Government tsars – and a denial that the rise is related to falling numbers of police officers.
