We need the widest possible look at council finances

Council tax bills have hit the doormats and letters – yes, they still exist – are sent to treasurers from people who ask: ‘Why am I paying more council tax when I don’t receive any services?’

While it would be hard to avoid enjoying any council services at all, there has been more strength to this voice as demand for vulnerable children and adults grows and universal council services reduce.
