As this month draws to a close, we are fast approaching the one-year point of the Liberal Democrats, Labour and Green parties forming our Strategic Partnership to lead Broadland DC. If you’d have asked me a year ago if I’d thought this was a realistic possibility - if I’m honest with you, I’d have said no. Yet here we are.

After May’s local elections and following a 23 year long Conservative administration, Broadland DC was left under no overall control. It was clear to us that the public had widely rejected the Conservatives, resulting in them losing 12 seats. We understood that there had been a significant amount of tactical voting in order to remove them from power, with many of our own votes having been loaned to us from each other’s party’s supporters. Therefore it felt absolutely right to work together and form a partnership to lead the council and take it in a new direction.
