Can the Liverpool city region seize its golden moment?

It looks like 2024 is set to be a critical year for Liverpool City Region (LCR). Along with other English city regions, LCR will go to the polls in May for its third metro mayor election, while some local authorities in the region are also holding council elections.

Although the date of the next General Election remains unclear at the time of writing, its outcome will be closely watched by a city region overwhelmingly represented by Labour MPs, but with a history of independent thinking.
