Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards rise again

The number of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLs) overseen by local authorities increased by 5.5% last year.

A report by NHS Digital showed an estimated 270,650 DoLS were applied for across England in 2021-22, indicating demand on councils with social care responsibilities continues to rise as mental health becomes a key consideration across health and social care providers.
