GPs may face fewer inspections in future

GP practices may be subject to a less rigorous inspection regime in future under proposals being considered by the Care Quality Commission.

Under the proposed changes, after all GP practices have been inspected once by the CQC they would then be allowed to self-assess their practices on a number of performance measures.
