Javid to give councils access to intelligence files

Councils will be given access to a more intelligence and police files under Home Office plans to reform the UK’s counter-terrorism strategy and share responsibility for tackling radicalisation.

Home secretary Sajid Javid will today announce plans to declassify some files on UK citizens suspected of having terrorist sympathies in order to widen the pool of public bodies with direct responsibility for preventing radicalism and potential attacks. The plan will include a new strategy to combat right-wing extremism in the UK.
