New assurance regime needs to be ‘far more useful’

Sometimes, just sometimes, I have sympathy for central government when it deals with colleagues at a local level. Though perhaps not too often!

Looking at the results of the Solace survey on the Office for Local Government (Oflog), it seems the sector is more split on the issue of assurance than the public was on Brexit. In all, 45% of respondents think local government has enough assurance, 45% think it is inadequate.
