Plotting a course for the pensions workforce

The collaborative nature of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) means that those who work in it are always keen to exchange ideas and discuss current issues. One topic that has become a frequent part of conversations is the difficulty in recruiting and retaining the right staff.

In recent years the demands on those delivering the LGPS have increased hugely. The job now includes dealing with complex projects such as McCloud, complying with ever greater scrutiny and governance demands or factoring environmental, social and governance (ESG) concerns into investment decisions. These are things which weren’t part of anyone’s job description in the not-too-distant past.
