Matthew Taylor’s article, ‘Examining prevention’ (www.themj.co.uk, 31 July 2023) reflects our excitement about the growing enthusiasm for support. It is something district councils have been championing for a long time, and recently we have taken a formal leadership role, alongside our voluntary and community sector colleagues (VCSEs).

This enthusiasm must now lead to matched longer-term funding and a drive towards shared targets and shared accountability across Integrated Care Systems.
