Last week, as councillors and local government officials eagerly awaited the Autumn Statement, there was one area where we particularly needed good news: social care funding.
Well before the chancellor stood up at the despatch box, I had written to him – along with the chair of the London Association of Adult Social Services and the president of the London Society of Treasurers – to outline the urgent action needed to avert a social care crisis in the capital.
