The quest for community harmony

The publication of Dame Sara Khan’s review last month laid bare the scale of the challenge faced by local authorities to maintain order and harmony in their communities.

A string of case studies revealed the scarcity of ‘capability, expertise and resources’ in councils that are ‘struggling to prevent, manage and contain’ threats to social cohesion.

The situation is compounded by ‘poor policy, insufficient data, and the lack of strategy and supporting infrastructure’ at the national level.
