Time to take a more tailored approach?

The town and country planning sections of the Growth and Infrastructure Act 2013 were introduced as part of the Coalition Government’s agenda for reducing delays and red tape in the planning system: to get Britain building again.

One of the key changes within the Act was to introduce real teeth into the Government’s ability to tackle under-performance in the planning system.

Where a local planning authority is considered to be determining planning applications too slowly, DCLG has the power to put that authority into what amounts to the town and country planning equivalent of “special measures”.
