A worrying trend towards self-sufficiency

The chancellor’s Autumn Statement contained a number of commitments for the regions beyond London and the South East, particularly the North. 

These included details behind significant investments in infrastructure, funding for education and science, and a commitment to devolve new civic powers - all part of the chancellor’s efforts to create a Northern Powerhouse.
