Former mayor of Liverpool City Council, Joe Anderson, is planning to sue the Government for its decision to intervene in the city.
Earlier this month, the High Court in Manchester granted the former mayor permission to challenge a decision by the council not to pay his legal fees after his December arrest for alleged corruption. Mr Anderson strongly denies the allegations.
