Another Tower Hamlets scandal likely thanks to new measures

Measures aimed at making it easier to dismiss Section 151 officers could make a Tower Hamlets-style scandal more likely in future, a veteran local government finance expert has suggested.

The finance director, who did not want to be named, said the changing role and powers of external auditors made his post, as well as that of chief executive and monitoring officer, even more important.
