Are we shooting for the moon?

Fifty years ago I was a teenager watching men landing on the moon. Many people thought it was impossible, but it was a huge act of political will. John Kennedy committed his nation to ‘Land on the moon and safely return, before the end of this decade’ and the funding followed. As Tom Woolf said in that epic book The Right Stuff ‘No bucks, no Buck Rogers!’

And as I’m watching the coverage of those events I’m thinking about our world here at home.
