Building homes is as urgent as tackling climate change

Of all the issues that matter to our residents, housing is the most important. Barely a day goes by without me speaking with social housing tenants about repairs or upgrades, with some of the 2,300 people on our housing waiting list who are in temporary accommodation desperate for a permanent home and with key workers struggling to afford to live in one of the priciest boroughs in the land.

These issues are not new. Nor are they unique to Kensington & Chelsea in London. They have been raised across the capital over many months and years, and always with passion and emotion.
