Call for new audit board

An independent review has been urged to back the creation of a board to oversee the local audit system.

In evidence submitted to the Redmond review, Public Sector Audit Appointments (PSAA), the organisation responsible for appointing auditors, said the new independently-led body should be given a remit to ‘ensure the smooth operation of the whole system, including providing leadership and coordination to the various bodies responsible for administering different aspects of the system’.
