Commission tells Tower Hamlets to heed polling advice

Voting watchdogs have urged Tower Hamlets LBC to put its electoral arrangements in order - following the widely publicised difficulties at the recent mayoral polls.

A review issued by the Electoral Commission today looks into why the count during May's local elections took so long - amid reports of chaotic scenes and delay - and identifies ways future election counts could be better managed in future.

It has been published ahead of a by-election taking place on Thursday so the returning officers can take on the Commission’s urgent recommendations.
