Councils hit out at planning reforms

Town hall chiefs have warned that government reforms to the planning system will not help high streets plagued by betting shops and payday lenders.

Housing and planning minister Brandon Lewis announced a consultation on planning reforms yesterday, which would scrap top-down targets and cut 1,300 pages of policy into one 50-page document.
