Councils take up care precept to boost income

Almost all eligible councils are set to raise the adult social care precept on their council tax in 2022-23, the latest government figures have revealed.

Of the 152 councils entitled to the precept, 150 will use it to boost their income. Care authorities are allowed to raise an addition 1% on their council tax – or up to 4% if they have deferred the rise from previous years.
