DCN calls for rates retention delay

The District Councils’ Network (DCN) has called for a one-year delay in the implementation of 75% business rates retention until 2021/22.

DCN said reforms, which would be accompanied by a full reset, should be piloted with a range of councils in 2020/21 but not rolled out until the following year to avoid a ‘big bang approach’ and ensure a ‘smooth transition to this new way of working’.
