Dorset reorganisation verdict 'unlikely' before elections

Hopes that the Government will make a decision on whether to back plans for two new unitary authorities covering Dorset have been dashed.

The MJ understands that a ‘minded to’ decision had been on the cards to be announced before purdah for the Dorset CC elections begins on Monday.

But the announcement is believed to have been affected by the Westminster terror attack, which halted government announcements for 24 hours and delayed others, and is now considered 'unlikely' before the county goes to the polls on 4 May.
