Fixing social care

The news about funding for social care is welcome and we are pleased that the Government are attempting to tackle one of the big ‘infrastructure’ projects that faces the nation. Rising demand and reduced funding has, for too long, been a problem for people who draw on services and has stifled innovation. Everyone agrees that the social care crisis is getting worse, and the current system for social care is unsustainable. 

The Government might face political pitfalls if the electorate do not see a change in their social care experiences and outcomes; but the proposals also have pitfalls for people who draw on, or work in care and support services. We have two major concerns.
