Fresh funding row brews

Another row was brewing this week over how much councils have spent on coronavirus and how much the Government will cover.

With Local Government Association (LGA) officials still crunching the numbers from more than 350 council returns, communities secretary Robert Jenrick tweeted that they indicated an expenditure of £1.25bn from March to May - compared to £3.2bn pledged in grants.
