Fresh league table fears

The prospect of council performance being ranked in a league table has been raised again this week.

National newspaper The Daily Telegraph said it had seen proposals to reform local government, including a ‘league table’ to rank councils on specific categories – including how quickly they fill potholes – with sanctions for repeated worst performers.
