The Government is ‘open’ to receiving a proposal for a merger of South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse DCs, the already closely integrated Lib Dem-led councils have been told.
Mark Stone, chief executive of the two councils, which already share officers and the procurement of major contracts, has sounded out officials from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government on the creation of a super-district.
