Government to hand licensing powers back to Rotherham

Powers over licensing including taxi services will be handed back to Rotherham MBC as part of a ‘phased approach,’ communities secretary Sajid Javid announced today.

The announcement comes after commissioners, led by Sir Derek Myers, made a number of changes, including introducing an enhanced fit and proper person test for existing and prospective taxi drivers.
