How 5G Will Make Cities Smarter

Local councils have never had it so tough, facing challenges from all quarters. For example, the aging population is putting significant pressure on health and social care while increasingly tech-savvy citizens are demanding bigger and better digital services that match the experiences they have with private sector organisations. At the same time, councils are being asked to do more with less, all while delivering sustainable, environmentally conscious solutions that align with the country’s ambitious green agenda.

The news that local authority funding has dropped by 21% in the last decade was met with a resigned sigh: further proof of the problems faced by each council the effects clear for all to see. The shortfall in funds has had a noticeable impact across the country, including the closure of many beloved public amenities such as libraries, swimming pools and bus routes.
