'Inspirational' Ritchie to step down

Newcastle City Council’s ‘inspirational’ chief executive Pat Ritchie has today announced she will stand down in the autumn after eight-and-a-half years in the role.

Ms Ritchie, who was awarded a CBE in the New Year’s Honours List for services to local government and public service reform, had planned to leave the council last year but stayed on due to the coronavirus pandemic.
