Johnson launches racial equality commission

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has set up a cross-government commission to look at ‘all aspects’ of racial inequality in the UK including health and employment following the recent Black Lives Matter demonstrations.

His announcement follows earlier warnings to Whitehall officials by local authority chief executives and leaders about community tensions and calls by Shadow communities secretary Steve Reed on the government ‘to show they are listening and prepared to act.’
