LGA calls for Care Act delay

Town hall chiefs have called for a delay implementing in the Care Act and to put the money earmarked to cap costs directly into the social care system instead.

In a letter to health secretary Jeremy Hunt, the chair of the Local Government Association’s (LGA) community wellbeing board, Cllr Isobel Seccombe, said it would be ‘deeply damaging’ to press ahead with reforming the current social care system ‘if the very foundations of the system we are reforming cannot be sustained’.
