Learn lessons from the snap election, says AEA

Council returning officers have demanded lessons ‘be learned’ after December’s snap General Election exposed the ‘fragility’ of the UK’s electoral system.

In a ‘position statement’ to the Cabinet Office minister Chloe Smith, the Association of Electoral Administrator (AEA) applauded councils for successfully delivering the election ‘given the constraints of the current system and the short timetable they were set’.
