Levelling up should focus on wellbeing, says report

The levelling up agenda should focus on improving economic and social wellbeing rather than infrastructure according to new research from the UK Prosperity Index 2021.

In 43 ‘red wall’ local authority areas that switched from Labour to Conservative in the 2019 General Election a third more adults have no qualifications when compared with the rest of the country. The proportion of adults with no qualifications is 10.4% in these areas compared to 7.8% nationally.
