Liverpool looks to the future

Last week, communities secretary Robert Jenrick told parliament of his plans to send commissioners into Liverpool City Council amid ‘multiple failures’ and arrests at the city.

Former Mayor Joe Anderson was arrested last December on suspicion of bribery and witness intimidation – allegations he vehemently denies. While he has not been charged, the arrest kicked off a Government-commissioned review by local government expert Max Caller into the city’s problems.
