Millions of pounds in extra savings needed in social care, survey reveals

Council social care leaders are having to find millions of pounds of extra savings this year as winter pressures approach, a survey has revealed.

The findings by the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) and the Local Government Association (LGA) showed 29% of English councils face having to find an extra £84m of collective savings despite the sector already planning care budget cuts of £806m.
