Money alone is not enough to solve bed blocking

'Government attempts to resolve the thorny issue of bed blocking may have been born out of good intentions, but thus far it seems the new and substantial £250m cash injection has delivered very little', says Heather Jameson.

Sometimes the best way to deal with a problem is to throw money at it. Sometimes not.

In local government, it is all too easy to fall into the trap of believing everything would be far better if only the magic money tree bloomed. And it is true that many issues could be resolved with the easing of austerity.
