The incoming government should put big cities outside London at the heart of a national mission to make the UK richer than Germany, a report today from the Centre for Cities think-tank has said.

A new government should aim to make the UK the second richest nation in the G7 – overtaking Germany – by taking inspiration from recent US place-based policies and the long-term approach taken to German reunification, said the report.
