It’s now more than two years since Joanne Roney took over the top job at Manchester City Council. The city may have been the flagship for economic growth and at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse when she arrived, but as with all councils it was not without its issues.

Just weeks into her tenure, Manchester faced one of its toughest challenges when a terror attack at the Manchester Arena killed 22 people.
