Opposition to TTIP grows

Enfield LBC has joined the ranks of opposition to a controversial EU-US trade deal.

It said the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) put the ‘interests of big business above those of the general public’.

The Labour-controlled council will write to communities secretary Greg Clark and the Local Government Association (LGA) to raise its concerns about the impact of TTIP on local authorities and the ‘secrecy of the negotiating process’.
