Parishes call for council tax referendum probe

Plans to force parish councils to have referendums for council tax rises are ‘a centralist sledgehammer to crack a nut’, leaders have claimed. 

National Association of Local Council’s (NALC) chairman Cllr Ken Browse has written to the Communities and Local Government Select Committee to urge MPs to investigate the proposals.
