Strong financial management is ‘doubly important’ amid the cost of living crisis, a senior mandarin has told public sector finance experts.
Permanent secretary Jeremy Pocklington warned the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) conference in Liverpool that they faced a ‘double edged sword’ of inflation and austerity, while winter pressures were set to hit budgets harder.
