Prudential borrowing threat reduced

The threat of high levels of prudential borrowing by councils for commercial property investments has been downgraded by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).

Out of 97 risks on the OBR’s 2019 risk register, two have been ‘resolved and removed’ - the threat of a no-deal Brexit and the ‘rise in local authorities’ prudential borrowing for commercial property purchases.’
