There are not many jobs where finishing up in the pub at the end of the working day is part of the role. But, for community pubs minister Kris Hopkins, visiting a craft beer bar in Brixton in south London for an obligatory photo call, pulling a pint is part of his brief.
Of course, as local government minister, he has a much wider remit than just pints and packets of crisps.
The MJ recently joined Mr Hopkins for an afternoon of ministerial visits to transformation projects across south London but, sadly, our invitation stopped just before the minister reached the pub.
Instead, we were treated to an insight into a project being run as part of the Better Care Fund and one funded through the Transformation Challenge Award.
